Tranwell Farm is a mixed arable and livestock farm in the rolling Northumbrian Countryside just outside the Historic Market town of Morpeth and 15 miles North of Newcastle.

We are the third generation of our family to farm here at Tranwell Farm in Northumberland and established Tranwell Coloured Ryelands in 2011.

We run Tranwell Farm with our two daughters Chloe and Charlotte.  We pay close attention to breed characteristics and conformation selecting only the best for breeding. Our aim is to breed show quality Coloured Ryelands with a rich diversity of fleece colours. Our current flock ranges from creams and caramels through to rich chocolates and cinamon swirls.

Ryeland Sheep are one of the traditional British sheep breeds. They're well known for producing excellent quality lamb and great tasting meat. Ryeland lamb is much sought after by rare-breed butchers, top chefs, hotels and restaurants. Hand spinners and weavers also seek out Ryeland sheep's wool for it texture and quality.

 In July 2025 we introduced 5 Pedigree Poll Dorsets to the farm which were then later joined by a Poll Dorset Ram. This then created Tranwell Poll Dorsets. Poll Dorsets are a hardy, versatile British breed, known for their distinctive white wool and naturally white faces, strong maternal instincts and excellent ability to thrive in a range of conditions. They are particularly valued for their good growth rates and quality meat.
